![]() I'm pretty sure they don't eat regolith, but I suppose I've never actually tried it. ![]() I think if you pick only dupes with diver's lungs and small bladder and get enough vacillator recharges with rockets to get deep diver's lungs on all of your dupes from the neural vacillator (in total a -75% oxygen requirement) it might be possible to cover all of your water needs for oxygen with just lavatories, and then you can use dreckos (with balm lilies), shove voles, or wild plants or something like that for food. It'll take a lot of effort to get enough to sustain your base, but it's technically possible. Regolith -> magma -> igneous rock -> coal (hatches) -> carbon dioxide -> oil (slickster) -> petroleum -> sour gas -> methane -> natural gas -> polluted water -> water -> oxygen. Some other possible solutions could include using rockets for resources (and have a good system in place to reclaim the fuel of the rocket), or using regolith to sustain your base. There are a lot of solutions for food, but if you want to keep it simple you can just use pufts to turn polluted oxygen into slime to farm mushrooms with (you can get pufts with the printing pod). Morbs require no upkeep and produce polluted oxygen, so you don't need electrolyzers. The easiest way to make a sustainable base if there are no useful geysers is to use morbs for oxygen. but I think your easiest solution would be to just stop using water. Getting water is difficult, but not impossible. there are a lot of ways to make a sustainable base. Tldr: Is there a sustainable way to get water on a Helicona map? That doesn't matter, sustainability is still a goal I'm working towards. Or until the available ice is too far away to reasonably mine. The starting area contains a lot of liquid water, and the giant ice biome contains a lot of Ice, so it might be that I don't have the patience to play this map until I run out of water. But water is what I notice first as something I'm going to need, but I'm going to have a hard time getting it. No iron, no gold, more copper, no slime, no chlorine, I don't know if there's going to be oil. What are my options for a sustainable source of water?Īs far as I can tell, the whole point of the Helicona challenge is how do you get by without certain resources. ![]() If I'm guaranteed to find one, that's great, but it looks like there aren't any. I don't think Helicona maps have steam vents. This post contains spoilers for what is contained in a Helicona map. ![]()
